FlexHARRP

FlexHARRP

FlexHARRP is the merging of low cost, low power, high performance and flexibility into one!

  • FlexHARRP Key Features
The new MUSIC FlexHARRP is a 5Mbit (65,536 entries of 80bit CAM organization) single chip High performance Asynchronous data Recognition and Recall Processor. 12ns compare cycle time and total power consumption continuous compares at full speed less than 3 watts. It’s the industry’s lowest power high density CAM. It is also available in 1.25Mbit and 2.5Mbit density. FlexHARRP has feature rich instruction set enabling multitude of applications. It has a full ternary search operation without limiting I/O size or timing. It is capable of full IPV6 lookups in 4 cycles.

  • FlexHARRP Flexibility in Product Choice to fit your exact needs
Table depth can be increased through pin for pin density upgrades from 1.25M – 5M; beyond 5M to 40M or more through cascading devices for applications that may require hundreds of thousands of entries.  Table width can be increased with a built in instruction set that enables words of practically any length to be loaded, recognized and recalled for applications with very long data strings.

  • FlexHARRP Flexibility in multiple Table structures and both Binary and Ternary functions
As a CAM based engine targeted for the IPv6 routing requirements, the 12ns compare cycle time (83+ million look-ups per second) and flexible table structures capable of both binary and ternary look ups combined or in 4 separate tables will enable deterministic routing of IPv6 routing functions satisfying line speeds of better than 10 Gigabit Ethernet lookups.

  • Asynchronous means lower latency
As an asynchronous device, the only latency that will be added by this CAM device is I/O pad delays, virtually impossible for a pipelined, synchronous CAM to match (often adding 20 to 40 clock cycles of latency). Single cycle searches is what makes CAM based hardware superior to any algorithm based search, less cycle latency means more efficient operation in streaming and faster response to new routing requests.

  • Low power means Green Machines
Utilizing TSMC’s low power, 65nm process provides the lowest power per search for a device of this type in the market; power savings that improve the robustness of your design and enable the whole planet to be a greener place.  Power savings that enable you to mount FlexHARRP’s commercial Thin Fine pitch Ball Grid Array (TFBGA) package without exotic hardware, further reducing costs and increasing reliability.

  • Best of Class Design tools mean solid production processes: high yields, low cost, high reliability
FlexHARRP is designed with best of class tools from Cadence, Synopsys, Mentor Graphic and Apache Design Solutions.  Your complex needs have been anticipated and your critical design parameters have been designed in.

  • MUSIC Does MORE for Customers: lowering the cost of high performance CAM technology
Any one of these feature sets would be a great reason to use the MUSIC FlexHARRP; however, it’s not enough to satisfy MUSIC in its goal to give more value per dollar spent on CAMs than any other vendor. MUSIC has dedicated itself to the goal of making this CAM more cost effective than any other look up table solution.

  • Low cost now and lower cost in the future
FlexHARRP is priced below $8/5Mbit chip in volume, the closest performing device with these features cost hundreds. MUSIC is embarking on a new concept of volume pricing that is called “Cumulative Volume Pricing”. This concept gives progressive discounts where volume is defined as the cumulative volume as orders are taken from Day 1. Our valued customers receive improved benefits compared with the traditional volume pricing where the volume is taken as the order quantity of individual Purchase Orders. Customers see price reductions that improve profitability without having to negotiate new prices from MUSIC. MUSIC makes this benefit available to its customers as it is a benefit that MUSIC enjoys from its subcontractors and passes along. This increases the value of our partnerships and demonstrates our true commitment to deliver higher value to the market for years to come.

  • Current Status on FlexHARRP development
The chip design for this latest addition to MUSIC product family has been completed and has taped out. The design has undergone complete simulation and was able to meet all specifications, performance parameters and features including our cost targets. Samples are planned for the end of 2010. MUSIC will ensure that customers will get the best value out of this chip.  Tell us your needs and potential applications so MUSIC can tell you the latest status and specific pricing options of this new product design solution.
